Juneteenth Celebration Historic Women in Civil Rights
sponsored by St. Stephen’s Episcopal Churches of  Beverly and Riverside NJ, and the Riverfront Historical Society,  Juneteenth Celebration,
Saturday, June 18, 2016.
In the name of freedom and equal rights, many women worked bravely, faced great adversity and risked their jobs, and even their lives. When asked how they did it, one activist said, “I was standing on my sisters’ shoulders.” The first black women to be allowed in the U.S. Senate chambers in nearly 100 years is recorded in this exciting film. Their effort and message is a missing chapter in our nation’s record of the Civil Rights Movement until now!” Come see an exclusive showing of the documentary film:  “STANDING ON MY SISTERS' SHOULDERS”: a story of the women altered the course of American history forever. The producers, Joan and Robert Sadoff, will be available for a discussion afterwards. The award winning book “Pieces From the Past: Voices of Heroic Women in Civil Rights” inspired the film.

Our door is open and we welcome to all who wish to enter....
